פרשת ויקהל - פקודי

ויקהל משה את כל עדת בני ישראל | שמות ל'ה, א'

And Moshe gathered all the congregation of Israel

When Klal Yisroel sinned with the עגל הזהב, they severed their unity, splintering into numerous tribes and factions.  This is evident in the words they uttered at the time of the sin of the עגל הזהב, אלה אלהיך ישראל  (these are your god’s Yisroel), which the Yerushalmi teaches, demonstrate that each שבט tribe had its own particular god.

According to Rav Yaakov Kaminetsky zt”l, it was this divisiveness which Moshe now sought to rectify through gathering Klal Yisroel together.  As one nation with one Torah, one centralized place of Godly service (מזבח אחד) and one High Priest; the unification of the people, temporarily lost as a result of sin, would once again be complete.

Once again we impart the theme of achdus to our talmidim.
