Pesach

July 17, 2017 10:46 AM
פסח

ולמען תספר באזני בנך ובן בנך את אשר התעללתי במצרים ואת אתתי אשר שמתי בם וידעתם כי אני ה' | שמות י', ב

And so that you may relate in the ears of your son and your son’s son that I have amused Myself with Mizrayim and My signs that I placed among them – that you may know that I am Hashem.

It seems as if the posuk is commanding fathers to arise and relate the wonders and powers of Hashem to engrain in the hearts of the sons, emunah in Hashem. According to this it might be more fitting for it to say וידעו כי אני ה', that they will know that I am Hashem – meaning the children. Why then does the posuk say וידעתם כי אני ה', that you many know that I am Hashem?

Says the Belzer Rebbeh, Rav Shalom tzvk”l, that when one relates the wonders and miracles of Hashem to his children, it results in his own emunah being strengthened. Through relating the miracles of Mizrayim, וידעתם כי אני ה', you many know that I am Hashem.

We are fortunate to convey Hashem’s greatness to our students all year round. We instill emunah of Hashem into the hearts of our students on a daily basis. We are certainly worthy to be the recipient of וידעתם, that we will be blessed with our emunah being strengthened.
