Looks real enough to eat! An inexpensive glass salt shaker covered in Sculpey Clay (PVC clay, completely free from chametz ingredients) makes an adorable addition to your Pesach table. Kids will love how easy it is to make such a beautiful project.

Goals and Objectives: Students will replicate the process of baking matzah while creating a visual prompt for discussion that is also a useful implement.
Skills Developed: fine motor skills (kneading, rolling, wrapping, painting, poking holes), focus on task, ability to follow instructions, planning behavior
 
  • 3/4 of a 2 oz. block of Sculpey Polymer clay. If you have a Michaels nearby their store brand is cheaper and works beautifully.
  • A fine-tooth comb
  • Glass squared-off salt shaker - usually 2 for $1 at the dollar store or Walmart.
  • Brown acrylic craft paint
  • Windex or other glass cleaner
  • Paper towels
  • Oven preheated to 275 degrees
  • Optional but helpful: kitchen parchment paper
  • Optional but helpful: rolling pin or straight-sided glass
