Board of any hard substance such as wood or plastic or foam board. The size of the board is determined by how many buttons you want the students to button. In the case of the button board presented here the size is 12 inches long x 18 inches wide.

Velvet to cover board

1½ inches diameter colorful buttons. We used 6 buttons.

Colored felt pieces to cut into tree shapes – approximately 5 inches x 5 inches. The colors should match the colors of the buttons.

Thread or yarn to sew the buttons onto the velvet

Tacky glue or double-face tape to adhere the velvet to the board

Tree die cut of appropriate size or use the tree template that is provided
