Goals and Objectives: The students will learn about the breastplate that Kohen Gadol wore over his heart and the names and letters carved on the stones, so that all of the tribes were represented and that all of letters of the Alef-Beis could be found on the choshen. Students will learn how Hashem responded to questions of national importance by causing specific letters to light up, revealing Hashem’s responses. (We followed the opinion of the Chizkuni, who follows the opinion of Rashi regarding the placement and colors of the stones, regarding the additional letters on the choshen and their placement.)
Skills Needed: Ability to follow directions
Skills Developed: Students will connect each stone with the name of 12 tribes on the breastplate.
