It’s a custom to light bon fires on Lag BaOmer to commemorate the great light that Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai brought into the world through his spiritual teachings. Students will be able to have their own hadlakah (bon fire) with this creative and real looking fire.

Goals and Objectives: Students will learn the meaning behind the bon fire on Lag BaOmer, to commemorate the strong light Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai brought into the world. Students will also work on their fine motor control and eye-hand coordination.
Skills Needed: Ability to follow directions
Skills Developed: Students will develop an understanding of the traditions of Lag BaOmerand strengthen their pincer grasp.

 

 
  • 1 Clear plastic cup
  • Red, yellow and orange tissue paper
  • 8 Brown pipe cleaners (we used 2 shades of brown)
  • Scissors
  • Tacky glue
